IDANDA: Natalia Porter
mini galeria de Natalia Porter:
Originally from Mexico, Natalia Porter has lived in New York since she studied for her Masters in Industrial Design at Pratt Institute. Since then she has worked at various offices in and around the city, and she delights in bringing a fine art sensibility to the world of practical industrial design. These images are the results of her own personal investigations, many using everyday objects which she imagines in rather different contexts.
Certainly, some of her objects are more successful than others, but the long-haired hairbrush, useless but strangely beautiful (it’s real hair too) and the pencil cubes and bullet are well thought out forms which are both attractive and thought-provoking. Her new foray into jewelery design (with colleague Allison Schlegel) is loosely based on cheap dollar rings you buy at toy stores and is even more promising. Porter, for sure, is one to watch.
