A woman who was branded with letters from the Consolidated Edison logo when she fell off a skateboard onto a searing hot manhole cover in Manhattan last year filed a lawsuit Thursday seeking unspecified damages from the utility.

Elizabeth C. Wallenberg, 27, was burned just above her buttocks and on her left arm when she fell off her skateboard onto a cover over a steam pipe at Second Avenue and 13th Street in the East Village shortly after midnight on Aug. 11, 2004, said her lawyer Ronald Berman.

"It literally looked like a brand that had been applied by someone," Berman said about the burn marks left on Wallenberg's body.

Thomas Stevens invented the title "STEVENGRAPH" and the first recorded use of this title was on the paper backing label of his woven silk bookmarks, in 1876. LA convención de Comics en San Diego:

So I went to Comic-con on Saturday, and like most of the people there, went primarily to see Tenacious D. Well in order to see the concert, you had to get there 4 hours early and sit through some panels advertising the latest films coming out. Not bad, because you get to see some actors and actresses trying to deal with a group of people that they probably have forgotten about since high school - Geeks.

So, the panel for King Kong comes up, and they show the trailer and a 2 1/2 minute rough cut of a scene from the film. Then the lights come up and Adrian Brody, Naomi Watts and Jack Black are standing on the stage. Every body goes apeshit (pun intended), and the three of them are really happy, until it becomes apparent that everyone is only really excited about seeing Jack Black. Here is one of those humbling experiences that will only happen to Brody and Watts a few times in their career. Sitting on a panel not being asked any questions by 3000 people who care less if they are there, and having to listen to question after question being directed to a B-list actor. [Ed.note--JB a B-lister? Hush your mouth, lest you be torn limb from limb by Comic-Con attendees.]
The best part: somebody went up to the mic during the Q & A and said offhandedly, "Oh, and I really like Michael Brody's work too." To which Adrian responds, "Dude, that was the guy from Jaws."

Teching Hsie es un artista. Teching Hsieh también esta loco (que en mi opinión no lo hace mejor o peor artista) pero esa locura se manifiesta en su dedicación.

Hsieh is an artist whose medium of expression is not words or sounds or paint, but his own life. His work consists of five "One Year Performances," done between the years of 1978 and 1986, and "Earth," a thirteen-year performance that stretched from the end of 1986 to the end of 1999. Each of these Performances involves a particular vow, a particular constraint, and a particular mode of being. Each of them is meticulously documented in a manner appropriate to its content. And, although Hsieh never explicitly states his rationales for his pieces, each of them implicitly raises profound, difficult questions about life and art and being, and about what it means to live in the world we live in.

After Mistaking Parents' Sex For Abuse...

A 16-year-old boy was charged with shooting his father in their Harris County, Texas, home Friday.

The shooting was originally reported as a case of domestic abuse, but deputies said the boy apparently witnessed a sexual act between his parents and thought the father was abusing the mother.

Sheriff's deputies charged the boy with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony.

Detectives said the mother and father were engaged in consensual sex when the shooting occurred at about 3:30 a.m. inside the family's home. Investigators said the couple's 11-year-old son woke up to his mother making loud noises.

"During the course of love making, the wife was evidently being somewhat loud … loud enough to where it woke the children up," Harris County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Mike Smith said.

The boy woke his brother, who then walked into his parent's bedroom and told his father, 43-year-old Jacob Hughes, to leave his mother alone. Officials said that is when the teen shot his father in the arm.

Detectives originally said that the son said he fired the gun as a way of defending his mother during an argument he thought she was having with his father.

"The children interpreted the noise as their mother being in danger," Smith said. "The 11-year-old went into the room, forcibly went into the room, to protect his mother. (The child) observed his parents making love and got the 16-year-old. The 16-year-old came back in and fired the shot."

After investigating previous problems at the home, officials said there have been previous reports of abuse in the family and that father had been charged and convicted of domestic violence. Officials said the children feared their mother was being hurt due to their father's previous convictions for abuse and that is the reason the oldest son shot his father.

Authorities said they have not determined whether the mother was screaming for help.

"That is a very important question. I can see why you are asking that. We are trying to work that out right now. We are trying to decide if it was a passionate scream or was it a cry for help," Smith said.

Hughes was transported to a hospital to be treated for his injuries. He was released late Friday morning.

Officials said the couple has been married for 20 years.

Excelente diseño de unos goggles con contador de vueltas y tiempo integrado:

Smart goggles that help swimmers log lengths have been designed by a UK engineering student.

The Inview goggles display a lap count and time elapsed on their lenses so swimmers can track their progress.

Invented by industrial design student Katie Williams, the goggles use an in-built compass to spot when swimmers complete lengths.

Ms Williams said the goggles would let swimmers concentrate on improving their strokes rather than count laps.

Esta historia me recuerda un programa americano 20/20 o 60 Minutes donde les gusta armar polémica. El experimento en cuestión era tomar a: un mono, un salón de niños de primaria y a un analista de bolsa. Dejar que cada uno escogiera un grupo de acciones y ver como iban progresando...

El mono quedo en primer lugar, los niños en segundo y el analista en tercero... El analista se quejó y dijo que el habia hecho inversiones a largo plazo y lo mejor para su cliente y blah blah... Se revisaron los resultados meses después... y si el analista subió de lugar... a segundo. Monkey business indeed.
